Sports Sunglasses for fishermen from Polaroid

The 2008 Polaroid Sunglasses Collection combines the ultimate glare-free vision with the latest sports styling – ideal for fishermen looking for a great catch!

polaroid sportsFollowing their successful move into the recreational fishing market last year, Polaroid has come back in 2008 with an even more stylish yet still practical range of sunglasses perfect for fishing – and for looking good around town.

For fishermen, subtle frame and lens colours such as ebony and gun metal not only look good but will even complement camouflage and country clothing. Polaroid’s classic dark metal Aviator styles now incorporate the latest lightweight but tough composite materials - and still retain their broad appeal. Sport and fashion designs are available with rubber pads on the inside arms and a rubber nose pad that give extra comfort and minimise the risk of your sunglasses sliding off and into the water.

But it is the wraparound that is the key outdoor sports style for 2008 and Polaroid has launched SPORTS Excel, exclusively available through Masterline stockists. SPORTS Excel is a stylish new black-on-black design with a snug fit, comfortable all day that gives literally all-round glare-free vision, making it easier to spot fish in the water, so you know exactly where to cast.

The SPORTS Excel, like all Polaroid sunglasses combines must-have designer style with a host of practical features:

  • virtually 100% glare-free vision exceeding international polarization standards
  • scratch-resistance to withstand everyday wear
  • robust, yet lightweight for day-long wearer comfort
  • 100% UV protection that exceeds international performance requirements
  • Shock-absorbency for protection against wayward hooks (In tests, Polaroid lenses could withstand a 23gm bead flying at 15m/second!)

Only Polaroid’s Polarized Sunglasses are the True Polaroids

Whilst many fishermen talk of reaching for their Polaroids, some of the sunglasses worn are not true Polaroid polarized sunglasses. No other polarized lens gives comparable performance, with many of the so-called ‘designer’ brand sunglasses, despite being very expensive, delivering much poorer optical clarity than Polaroid. It makes sense to make sure your sunglasses are Polaroid polarized.

Best Glare-free Vision Right Into The Water

The specially designed Polaroid PTX4000 lenses, developed at Polaroid’s Research Centre in Scotland, give great optical performance and full polarizing efficiency.

This is because the PTX4000 lenses in Polaroid sunglasses block out virtually all horizontally reflected glare that confuses vision, but let through vertical light which is useful to the human eye, helping you to see clearly. For fishermen, that means all-round, glare-free view deep into the water so you can see where fish are feeding or resting – making catching them that bit easier!

100% UV Protection for Outdoor Living

This clearer contrast is also more restful for the eye so no more squinting against light reflected off the water or when the sun is low. Polaroid lenses give excellent natural colour perception and also provide 100% UV protection – important for eye health if you spend long periods outside.

“In this latest range of sunglasses for outdoor sports, we’ve gone just that bit further with the styling but retained all the practical features too,“ said Rebecca Harwood Lincoln, Sales Manager UK & Ireland for Polaroid Eyewear. “It’s technically brilliant and shows our commitment to designer-led fashion styles combined with performance. Now everyone who enjoys fishing and other outdoor sports has real choice when it comes to sunglasses – full-on fashion without compromising on lens performance and sun protection, all at an attainable price.”

The select 2008 fishing range is available from Masterline, simply call 01684 299000 for your nearest stockist. Prices start from £40 and each pair of Polaroid sunglasses comes with a special cleaning cloth and a convenient case.
