POLAROID EYEWEAR CELEBRATES 25 YEARS OF THE 10K ROAD RACE SERIES

Since the first race back in 1987 which attracted around 100 runners, the Polaroid Eyewear 10k Series has grown to become one of the key events in the Scottish running calendar. Over 4,000 runners took part in 2010 and even more are expected in this special anniversary year!
As usual, the Series will be run in May and June, around Helensburgh, Clydebank, Dumbarton and the Vale of Leven – all sites local to Polaroid Eyewear’s Global Manufacturing and Distribution Centre.

There are the four 10k Road Races for competition runners plus our Fun Run Festival that is open to everyone who wants to run, jog or even toddle! And all our local communities benefit directly from these events – to date local schools have received around £25,000 to support sports activities and local athletics organisations have received over £150,000. In this, our 25th anniversary year we are aiming to do even more to help encourage athletics at the grass roots level.”
Special 25th Anniversary Extras
This year, everyone who pre-enters all four races in the 10k Road Race Series by the 16 May will receive a pair of special commemorative 25th Anniversary Polaroid sports sunglasses. These stylish black wraparounds have cobalt blue inlays and rubber arm fittings for a comfortable secure fit over even the roughest terrain. Road Race Series
Event dates and entry details for the 2011 Polaroid Eyewear 10k Road Race Series are given below. Races are open to all runners aged 15 years on the day of their race. Entry fees are £12 for SAL affiliates and £14 for non-affiliates with over 20% discount if you enter all four races by 16 May 2011.

Chip technology provides runners with their race stats within minutes after each race finishes. They just need to register their mobile number when completing their entry form and their finishing time will be sent by text when the race is completed.
Fun Run Festival
For non-competitive runners of all ages, there is the Polaroid Eyewear Fun Run Festival at the Vale of Leven 10k event.
