In 2008 Alex Flynn was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease at the age of 36. So he decided to do something positive and inspirational with the hope of finding a cure for Parkinson’s Disease. Alex has a goal to race 10 Million Metres before December 2014 wearing Polaroid’s excellent sports sunglasses, aiming to raise over £1m for Cure Parkinson’s Trust.

Polaroid Eyewear is supporting Alex’s 10 Million Metre challenge, by providing him with sports sunglasses to protect his eyes as he takes on his exceptional challenge. Alex was recently featured in Running Fitness magazine which featured his epic journey running from London to Rome in his Flynn’s TransEurope challenge.

Thank you and the rest of the Polaroid team for the support this year.” There’s only one reply to this. “We’re glad to help. And Alex, you are a true inspiration.”

Kerry wearing Polaroid Venture P7000A.

Here’s what Olympic sportswoman Kerry Harty had to say about Polaroid’s running sunglasses, Venture P7000A.

“I’m loving the Polaroid sunglasses. They are a great addition to my X-Bionic kit and X-Socks.”

“They’re great for training in all weather conditions as I found out today in the rain! I am one of these unlucky runners that always get flies in the eyes in the summer, so these sunglasses keep the bugs out too.”

Polaroid running sunglasses

With the 2012 Olympics on the horizon, it was great to see Olympic silver medallist, Steve Cram MBE, congratulating Kerry Harty after her win in the Sunderland Elite Road Mile. Polaroid Eyewear is supporting Kerry in her quest for success by providing her with running sunglasses to help her performance.

Steve Cram is a legend on the track, winning a silver medal for Britain in the 1500m at the 1984 Olympics, and the 1500 metres gold medal at the 1983 World Championships.

Kerry has been very successful at cross country events, 1500m and 5000m over the years. She has just moved to the Steeplechase discipline this season and has made the big decision to give up working and train full time in an effort to compete in the Olympic Games London 2012 and Rio 2016.

The change of discipline has clearly paid off as she won her first National Outdoor title in the 3K Steeplechase on 6 August this year (it was only her fifth competitive event in this category).  Kerry being the driven person she is was disappointed that it wasn’t her fastest time of the season!  Kerry is a bit of a record collector and has run 4 Northern Ireland records in the Steeplechase events this summer and also holds Northern Ireland records in the 5000m & 3000m on the track.

Keeping fit is part of my job. As a Police Officer I need to be alert, active and ready to tackle any situation. So I keep to a programme of weightlifting and running which keeps my fitness levels where they need to be. I prefer to run outdoors through the countryside where I live, so I always have a pair of running sunglasses on me to keep the sun out of my eyes.

I tried a pair of Polaroid Rush XT P7124B and was pleased with how they performed. The rubber ear grips and cushioned frames made them comfortable, and they didn’t fog up even during the muggy weather I was running in, because of the ventilated brow.
