Alex Reid wears Polaroid Rider sunglassesAs Alex Reid and his fiancée Chantelle Houghton announce this week that they’re going to be parents to a baby girl, Polaroid Eyewear would like to say congratulations! We’re big fans of Alex, and it was great to see him selecting a pair of Polaroid 1960 Rider when he joined us for our sunglasses collection launch last week. They look very stylish on him.

Polaroid 1960 Rider is a new pair of sunglasses from our 2012 Best under the sun heritage collection. Taking the driving force of design from the ‘60s and teaming it with modern robust materials, Rider is quickly becoming a popular frame.

Footballers set the bar when it comes to style. So when we spotted international football player, Carlton Cole, wearing his Polaroid sunglasses at a comedy gig in London, we couldn’t resist taking a snap.

Carlton started his career at Chelsea and is now a striker for West Ham United. He also plays internationally for England, so it was great to see him taking a night off and supporting up and coming British comedian, Kojo, from the audience at the sell-out Live N Kicking show at Hackney Empire.

Did you see Choice FM’s DJ, Kojo, wearing his Polaroid sunglasses at his sell-out show at the Live N Kicking event at Hackney Empire last week? Alongside British rapper, Angel, Kojo looked stylish in his pair of Rebel Polaroids, which feature in our Best under the sun collection.

Dubbed ‘The Fresh Prince of Hackney’, Kojo is fast becoming one of the biggest talents to arise from the comedy circuit. Also at the show were stars from the sports and entertainment world, including superstar songstress Jamelia, and Eastenders Ricky Norwood and Preeya Kalidas.

Polaroid quality checks for perfect sunglassesQuality is core to everything we stand for. That’s why we put our sunglasses through rigorous tests so you have perfect sunglasses every time.

Here’s what it involves:

  • Energetic opening – a mechanical bar pushes down on the sunglass bridge to simulate over-energetic opening of the arms
  • Lotions and potions – we test our sunglasses using day-to-day sun creams, cosmetics and hair products to ensure the materials don’t react
  • Seaside durability – exposing sunglasses to salt water, supplied by OSIL, creates a typical beach environment
  • Rigorous use – opening and closing the arms constantly for 7 hours, shows how the sunglasses will perform in a 2 year time span.
