Polaroid were overwhelmed by the fantastic number of journalists, celebrities, stylists, writers and bloggers who joined us for our 75th Anniversary and 2012 Sunglasses Collection Launch yesterday. Held at the elite No 5 Cavendish Square in London, the event gave a preview of our new sunglass collections, which will launch on the high street and online next month.
Over 130 VIP guests from the fashion, optical and national press viewed the new Polaroid Best under the sun heritage collection. Also available was our 2012 men’s, women’s, sports and kid’s sunglasses. The day was buzzing from start to finish.
A special feature of the launch included the display of original Polaroid sunglasses which date back to the 1930s when we first launched the brand. As we celebrate our 75th anniversary this year, it was the perfect opportunity to show how original designs from the archives shape today’s fashions.
Alex Reid arrived with James Bond stuntwoman, Sarah Donohue, celebrity publicist Richard Curson, and elite trainer Cengiz Halabi, all from Famously Fit. And Rosie Fortescue from TV’s Made in Chelsea arrived with Nathalie from No No Coco choose a pair of aviator style sunglasses from our new Best under the sun collection.
We’re delighted with the amazing response we’ve received so far, with the press, Twitter and blogosphere full of positive comments.

Footballers set the bar when it comes to style. So when we spotted international football player, Carlton Cole, wearing his Polaroid sunglasses at a comedy gig in London, we couldn’t resist taking a snap.
Carlton started his career at Chelsea and is now a striker for West Ham United. He also plays internationally for England, so it was great to see him taking a night off and supporting up and coming British comedian, Kojo, from the audience at the sell-out Live N Kicking show at Hackney Empire.

What a night! Polaroid Sunglasses had a fantastic time in Camden yesterday at the SB.TV Xmas Party. We’d provided pairs of Polaroid sunglasses for the goody bags at the party, so it was great to be there to soak up the atmosphere and mix with the celebrities.
As the UK’s leading youth broadcaster, SB.TV’s founder Jamal Edwards has taken the brand to great heights. They boast over 50 million YouTube views and tens of thousands of subscribers, Facebook fans and Twitter followers, who view the interviews, music videos and viral adverts of some of the world’s most highly respected, globally recognised artists.
We met many celebrities who were happy to pose in pairs of Polaroid sunglasses, including British actor Adam Deacon, Eastenders star Devon Anderson, up and coming superstar Chanelle Williams, aka Lady Chann, and SB.TV founder Jamal.
Were you at the party? Give us a tweet! @PolaroidSun #SBTVXmasParty

As Drapers says, ‘fashion has more than its fair share of faces.’ And the unveiling of their Power List 2011 this month shows that it’s not just the fashion industry which influences the styles you see on the catwalk and high street. This year’s Power List includes designers, retailers, politicians, journalists, bloggers, royalty and even a country. The Power List shows how influential British fashion is and Polaroid Eyewear is proud to be part of the industry.
Some of the highlights include Peter Ruis, Buying and Brand Director for John Lewis as he continues to be a driving force in the industry. Peter spearheaded the development of location-exclusive collections, such as Made in UK.
It’s also great to see Lord Wolfson, Chief Executive of Next in position 2 this year. Lord Wolfson has been integral in keeping Next’s sales increasing despite steep competition on the High Street.

It’s been announced this week that Polaroid Eyewear is a finalist in The Chartered Institute of Marketing’s Marketing Excellence Awards.
As a short-lister in the Retail Category, we’re competing with Marks and Spencer, Unilever, PepsiCo, Dove and Topshop. We’re delighted.
We’ve heard from the Institute that they’ve had a huge level of interest in the Awards this year, with many exceptional entries impressing the judges. Polaroid Eyewear’s entry showcases the promotion of our Best under the sun heritage collection. It’s clearly caught the judges’ attention.
