Comfortable and hard on glare

Sometimes it seems like summer is a million years away. Literally. But, that doesn’t mean you can relax when it comes to eye protection. Winter sun is lower in the sky, so it’s more likely to shine directly in your eyes when you’re driving. And, that means that having sunglasses, Clip-Ons or Suncovers on hand in the car is a must.

But there’s more. Glare is light moving in the horizontal plane – and it happens when light bounces off a flat surface like a road, a pavement or even the bonnet of a car. It’s uncomfortable, unpleasant and can impair your vision. Glare doesn’t just happen in bright sunlight – it can happen on days that are grim and grey as well.  There’s research showing that glare can slow down the time it takes to stop your car.  So be safe in low light and keep sun protection in your glove box.

Clip-ons – a trend you can’t argue with

by Perfect Vision

in Clip-Ons

Sometimes, a product really can sneak up and give you a big surprise. Clip-ons are one of those products. They’re been around for years. I remember my dad wearing them fishing way back when… And there’s a few people here at Polaroid who recall seeing them in the seventies when wire-framed glasses were the very zenith of style. Clip-ons are actually a very neat bit of kit that come with either a  flip-up clip or a spring-fit clipThat’s a tongue twister for most of us, but easy to use with any pair of prescription glasses. What’s surprised us this year is our sales. Clip-ons are proving to be a very popular item – and they’re literally flying out of our warehouse. Read more…

To be honest, I don’t mind wearing specs. I don’t have a particularly strong prescription, so I don’t keep them on every minute of the day. The pair I have now are comfortable, and a good fit. When I leave the house, I don’t like to be weighed down by a lot of things I may not need. Clip-on sunglasses are small and practical to carry around. A new pair of prescription sunglasses would be a bit of an investment – and my prescription could change in just another six months. Read more…
