The PlanetSolar team wearing Polaroid sunglasses.
As PlanetSolar continues its mission into the New Year, Polaroid Eyewear has once again pledged to support their mission to promote renewable energy sources across the world. Polaroid is PlanetSolar’s official sunglass supplier, so we’re keeping their eyes protected from the glare of the water as they sail.
Today is the 507th day of Planet Solar’s around the world tour. The team are now sailing in the north of Abu Dhabi. The next step will be the Somalian Sea. In this region, piracy is a concern, so the Planet Solar mission is paying full attention to avoid any problems so they can arrive on time in Monaco on 4 May.

The Military Wives achieved Christmas Number 1 last year; raising huge amounts of cash for Help for Heroes. So when the No Limits Triathlon and Running Club asked us to support their Nottingham to Monaco cycling ride in aid of Help for Heroes and The Royal British Legion, we jumped at the chance. Polaroid Eyewear has donated pairs of cycling sunglasses to the team, to give them glare-free vision and protection on the road as they

Here at Polaroid, we’re working alongside the angling community. There’s a great deal of skill involved in this sport but also the need for safety. So that’s why you need the optimum eye protection from sunglasses. Polaroid’s fishing sunglasses improve your vision by blocking glare reflected off the water. This lets you see the fish in the water clearly and avoid any obstacles in the way.
Currently we’re running a contest with the Fly Fishing Forums, Europe’s largest community of fly anglers, as part of their Famous Fly Fisher competition. So if you love fly fishing, join their forum and get involved.
Take a look at their picture caption competition. Then come up with something clever about Billy Connolly. The lucky winner will receive a pair of Polaroid’s fishing sunglasse
s, Trappers P7125C, which have yellow polarized lenses and are specially designed for fishing.

Polaroid were overwhelmed by the fantastic number of journalists, celebrities, stylists, writers and bloggers who joined us for our 75th Anniversary and 2012 Sunglasses Collection Launch yesterday. Held at the elite No 5 Cavendish Square in London, the event gave a preview of our new sunglass collections, which will launch on the high street and online next month.
Over 130 VIP guests from the fashion, optical and national press viewed the new Polaroid Best under the sun heritage collection. Also available was our 2012 men’s, women’s, sports and kid’s sunglasses. The day was buzzing from start to finish.
A special feature of the launch included the display of original Polaroid sunglasses which date back to the 1930s when we first launched the brand. As we celebrate our 75th anniversary this year, it was the perfect opportunity to show how original designs from the archives shape today’s fashions.
Alex Reid arrived with James Bond stuntwoman, Sarah Donohue, celebrity publicist Richard Curson, and elite trainer Cengiz Halabi, all from Famously Fit. And Rosie Fortescue from TV’s Made in Chelsea arrived with Nathalie from No No Coco choose a pair of aviator style sunglasses from our new Best under the sun collection.
We’re delighted with the amazing response we’ve received so far, with the press, Twitter and blogosphere full of positive comments.

Greg wearing Polaroid’s golf sunglasses, Voyager P7125A.
When it comes to golf, there’s nothing more important than having the right kit. So Greg Smith, an instructor at East Herts Golf Club, has been checking out Polaroid’s golf sunglasses, Voyager P7125A. He’s delighted with the results.
“These Polaroid golf sunglasses have been excellent for providing me a clear view of the golf ball’s flight when I’m playing in all weather conditions,” said Greg.
“Green reading has also been made much easier as I can see the contours of the course with greater definition. These are a must for all golfers.”
Polaroid’s Voyager golf sunglasses have copper coloured lenses, which give good definition in low light, when it’s cloudy and on the average summer day.
We also have sunglasses for golf available with lavender or brown lens options, which help in bright conditions when contrasts are at their strongest.
