Greg wearing Polaroid’s golf sunglasses, Voyager P7125A.
When it comes to golf, there’s nothing more important than having the right kit. So Greg Smith, an instructor at East Herts Golf Club, has been checking out Polaroid’s golf sunglasses, Voyager P7125A. He’s delighted with the results.
“These Polaroid golf sunglasses have been excellent for providing me a clear view of the golf ball’s flight when I’m playing in all weather conditions,” said Greg.
“Green reading has also been made much easier as I can see the contours of the course with greater definition. These are a must for all golfers.”
Polaroid’s Voyager golf sunglasses have copper coloured lenses, which give good definition in low light, when it’s cloudy and on the average summer day.
We also have sunglasses for golf available with lavender or brown lens options, which help in bright conditions when contrasts are at their strongest.

At the moment, autumn is in the air - for some of us anyway. But I’m still in America enjoying all that the golf courses of Central Oregon have to offer. Without a doubt, when you’re on a golf course at an elevation of 4,000 feet, golfing sunglasses are not an option – they’re a necessity. The higher the elevation, the more risk of potential damage from UV rays. It’s important to invest in a good sun cream too. There are even shirts that prevent UVA and UVB light from reaching your skin that are definitely worth considering. And if the weather is a little cloudy, there’s no reason to leave your sunglasses at home. Just the opposite in fact. I always keep a pair of Polaroid Sunglasses in my golf case no matter where I’m headed.
But, if it’s sun you’re looking for, head to Eagle Crest in Redmond, Oregon. There’s a Ridge Course, a Resort Course, a Challenge Course and an 18-hole putting course. So whether you’re like me and just enjoy golfing rather than excel at it, there’s something for you. And, just as important perhaps, the resort gets 300 days of sunshine a year. A perfect excuse to invest in at least one pair of golfing sunglasses.
Polaroid Technix VII golf sunglasses - perfect for golf.
We recently teamed up with Golf World magazine, one of the UK’s leading golfing magazines to run a competition for their readers. Each winner won a pair of Polaroid Technix VII golf sunglasses.
The competition was run in conjunction with MacDonalds Hotels, and part of the prize was a weekend at one of their spa golfing resorts. We were so impressed by the range of their resorts, take a look at:
- Botley Park Hotel Golf & Spa, near Southampton
- Cardrona Hotel Golf & Spa, near Peebles
- Hill Valley Hotel Spa & Golf, Whitchurch
- Linden Hall Hotel G&CC, near Morpeth

Don't forget your sunglasses even in winter
It’s December. And while everyone else is Christmas shopping and eating mince pies, I’m competing in the winter league. Then, I eat the mince pies – and miss the opportunity to go shopping with my Christmas-obsessed wife. Yesterday I had a great game. The course was hilly and the day mild. But, the wind still comes up even when the weather is good. I kept my golfing sunglasses on most of the time. By 2:00 the sun was so low in the sky, that I really needed them. Winter sun isn’t nearly so weak as we think. But what really made a difference was the protection I had from the wind. I could see that the other team and even my own partner were having trouble keeping their eyes fully open.
This year, I tried the new lavender lenses from Polaroid’s range for golfers. And I have to say they really help. I’m not much of a style guru and at first I found the colour a little…well…different. But now I’m a convert because I can see my ball out so much more quickly and easily – even in the rough. I also think the large lenses really help. I have full protection from the wind and the sunglasses are so light I forget I’m wearing them.
If you’re golfing this winter, don’t forget your sunglasses. They can really help make the round a lot more comfortable.
It may be October, but that doesn’t mean that the passions of committed golfers are in any way
The Glenmuir Windstretch - made for autumn
dampened. Just the reverse. After all, if a course is challenging during the kinder weather of summer, then it must be even more challenging during the winter when the elements conspire against even the best players. On cloudy days, a good pair of golf sunglasses can come in handy – especially if the clouds suddenly clear. The key to autumn golfing is to invest in the gear that will protect and help you enjoy even rainiest day. One of the most important pieces of kit you’ll need is a good jacket. And Polaroid Sunglasses has been looking for the best on the market.
The lightweight: Nike is on to a winner with the Paclite men’s gof jacket. Made of GoreTex, this jacket repels water but can still breathe with you. And, it has a high neck so rainwater won’t drip down your back – always annoying in the extreme. Like its name suggests, this jacket is lightweight and very comfortable. It’s broader cut won’t hamper your swing in the least.
