My wife’s ambition knows no bounds. One minute she’s asking me to review Polaroid’s latest golf sunglasses, and the next she’s on about changing my golf bag. The fact is, my golf bag has been with me longer than my wife. Hmmm. There’s a joke in there somewhere… So, I guess she has a point. It’s a shame to wear the latest golf sunglasses and carry a bag that’s seen better days. So, I’ve been doing a bit of shopping. To save all of you out there an unnecessary shopping trip, here’s my top picks for golf bags.
Nike – The Nike Victory Red Staff bag has a lot going for it. And, for just short of £250.00, it definitely should. The opening is big enough to make it easy to take clubs in and out without too much faffing around. And, there’s lots of pockets for storing balls, tees, hats, golf sunglasses and whatever else you might be carrying around with you. It’s also got a nifty rubber handle for ease of use.
Wilson - The Staff Tour Golf bag looks and feels incredibly durable. At £129.99, t’s a bit less of an investment than the Nike bag, but it’s also got sizeable storage pockets – there’s even one with a special stay-cool lining for your water bottle. The opening is smaller, and I can imagine this makes it more difficult to get your clubs out. It’s a handsome bag, but I worry about the white looking scuffed after time.
Callaway – The Diablo Edge has a unique name. And the bag itself is very different from the more conventional shape of the Nike and the Callaway. It weights just six pounds and rests on a stand. There’s less storage space, but I like the look of the carrying strap – it’s well padded and it seems like Callaway have put some thought into the design.
So far, I’m not sure what to get. I like the lightness of the Callaway and the reassuringly expensive feel of the Nike. If you have any thoughts, I’d love to hear them.
