The largest solar-powered catamaran in the world, PlanetSolar, was launched today. The team behind this remarkable project were thrilled to see this futuristic craft winched from dry docks onto the water.
At 15:30 on the dot, the boat was gently lowered onto the Baltic Sea where she will remain until she begins her maiden voyage. ProjectSolar is a ground-breaking project with one crusade in mind. To sail around the world using only solar energy for power. Polaroid Eyewear is an official sponsor and supports PlanetSolar’s educational crusade to promote renewable energy sources.
As they set sail around the world, the crew will all be wearing Polaroid’s polarized sunglasses. That’s so they get all the benefit of solar power whilst on board but avoid the dangers of exposure to the sun’s UV rays.
