After almost two years of dedication, PlanetSolar has been unveiled! A team of over 100 people across the world have been working on this ground-breaking project and it was celebrations all round at the launch. The big unveiling to the world’s media and PlanetSolar partners was at the shipyard in Kiel today. Now the challenge will really begin.

PlanetSolar’s ultimate goal is to sail around the world powered only by the sun. The reason? To change the world’s attitude to renewable energy. To help them on their adventure using only solar energy for power, Polaroid Eyewear is providing the crew with Polaroid polarized sunglasses. These will let nothing get in their way – not glare from the sea or harmful UV rays.

PlanetSolar aims to change the world's attitude to renewable energy.

Raphael Domjan, Founder and Skipper of PlanetSolar said “We are delighted that Polaroid has agreed to sponsor us on this unique project. When I’m sailing they give me good vision and protect my eyes from light reflected off the water and off the solar cells on the boat. With Polaroid’s support, the whole crew will get the same benefits of Polaroid’s glare-free vision and all-day, comfortable fit.”

Here at Polaroid we’re all excited waiting for the next step in this great adventure – the launch of the boat.

Polaroid Sunglasses is an official sponsor of PlanetSolar.
