Our crew will be joined by Alison Harper, who is a BBC correspondent and by a cameraman. She will be sailing with us from La Rochelle to Rio, and will be broadcasting live from the race start in Hull on BBC Breakfast and then the News Channel, then flying down to La Rochelle to join the boat there – she’ll broadcast live into BBC Breakfast during the race.

The naming took place alongside the Royal Yacht Britannia in the Port of Leith after a sail down the Firth of Forth from Port Edgar and the boat was named by Alex Salmond, Scotland First Minister, using Benromach quality whisky instead of the traditional champagne. The boat was piped by one of the crew when crossing the border and entering Scottish waters and by the Red Hot Chilli Pipers when arriving in Leith.
