Sunglasses have been around for a while. In fact, the Roman Emperor Nero watched gladiators through polished gems. In the eighteenth century, James Ayscough experimented with tinted lenses in spectacles to treat vision problems. But it wasn’t until 1936 that Edwin Land brought something new to the mix by inventing the first synthetic polarizer for the manufacture of sunglasses. Read more…

To be honest, I don’t mind wearing specs. I don’t have a particularly strong prescription, so I don’t keep them on every minute of the day. The pair I have now are comfortable, and a good fit. When I leave the house, I don’t like to be weighed down by a lot of things I may not need. Clip-on sunglasses are small and practical to carry around. A new pair of prescription sunglasses would be a bit of an investment – and my prescription could change in just another six months. Read more…
