Nicky Hambleton-Jones and her team of personal stylists talk Autumn/Winter trends
TV presenter and celebrity stylist Nicky Hambleton-Jones and her team of personal stylists at the leading NHJ Style Consultancy bring you the Fashion Trends for Autumn/Winter 2012/2013. With lots to choose from, look for the ones that work for your body shape and lifestyle…
Leather and black
You can’t go wrong with black this autumn, and wear it in leather and you will be bang on trend! Try a leather dress, skirt, top or trousers – you’ll find lots of options on the high street. Another great look for the Christmas Party season is to invest in a little black dress with some lace detail.
The power of peplum
The peplum is great for hiding those lumps and bumps and creates a wonderful feminine shape to be proud of. Whether it’s a dress or a top experiment with a lace or leather option – and don’t forget to accessorise with a fabulous pair of high heels!
Military wear
Khaki, greens and greys can be found in abundance on the high street for autumn winter. The military trend is back with choices from oversized coats to fitted jackets and dresses. Don’t forget your belt to cinch in the waist!
Opulent colours
Reds and purples are a definite hit this autumn, and are ideal for an evening out with friends and the perfect winter wear. Or for something brighter try hot pink – a key colour for autumn winter – and looks great with a pair of dark denim skinny jeans.
Winter whites
A crisp white collared shirt will freshen up any outfit this winter. Wear under a dress for work, or under a chunky knit for weekend wear with your jeans and knee high boots.
Buttoned up collars
Ladies, wear your blouses buttoned up this season. In bright or muted shades this look is the new lady like chic. Add a statement necklace for interest and match with a pair of tapered trousers or a pencil skirt for both office and an evening out.
Heritage
Country classics always have their place – think Downton Abbey! Plaid and corduroy fabrics in autumnal hues in traditional country style, tailoring together with chunky knits and leather loafers or boots, are a stylish weekend option for this wet and windy British weather.
Accessorising is key
The olympics bought us gold, silver and bronze and the metallic inspiration continues into autumn winter with lots of shimmer details for bags, jewellery and shoes. Sequinned tops, trousers or even flats are great for giving you daytime sparkle as well as taking you into evening wear in style. Studs are very on trend for the season – whether they are on handbags, dresses or gloves! Belts are always one of our favourite ways of finishing off an outfit – so make sure you invest in one that works for your body shape. And don’t forget to stow a pair of Polaroid Innocence sunnies in your handbag to complement your look on those bright winter days.
