Kojo wearing his white Polaroid Rebel sunglasses, with British rapper Angel also wearing Rebel.
Did you see Choice FM’s DJ, Kojo, wearing his Polaroid sunglasses at his sell-out show at the Live N Kicking event at Hackney Empire last week? Alongside British rapper, Angel, Kojo looked stylish in his pair of Rebel Polaroids, which feature in our Best under the sun collection.
Dubbed ‘The Fresh Prince of Hackney’, Kojo is fast becoming one of the biggest talents to arise from the comedy circuit. Also at the show were stars from the sports and entertainment world, including superstar songstress Jamelia, and Eastenders Ricky Norwood and Preeya Kalidas.

In 2008 Alex Flynn was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease at the age of 36. So he decided to do something positive and inspirational with the hope of finding a cure for Parkinson’s Disease. Alex has a goal to race 10 Million Metres before December 2014 wearing Polaroid’s excellent sports sunglasses, aiming to raise over £1m for Cure Parkinson’s Trust.
Polaroid Eyewear is supporting Alex’s 10 Million Metre challenge, by providing him with sports sunglasses to protect his eyes as he takes on his exceptional challenge. Alex was recently featured in Running Fitness magazine which featured his epic journey running from London to Rome in his Flynn’s TransEurope challenge.
Alex dropped us a note: “Just a quick email to say how spectacularly the sunglasses you supplied were. Thank you and the rest of the Polaroid team for the support this year.” There’s only one reply to this. “We’re glad to help. And Alex, you are a true inspiration.”
2012 is a landmark year for Polaroid Eyewear as we celebrate our 75th Anniversary. Dr Edwin Land invented the first synthetic polarizer back in 1937 and went on to establish the well known fashion and quality polarized sunglass brand that we are today.
This year will see a host of celebrations all over the world to mark our amazing milestone in polarization expertise and stunning design.
To coincide with our anniversary and the upcoming launch of our new 2012 Best under the sun collection, we’ve announced a worldwide collaboration with the UK based charity Sightsavers. We’ll help to fund their work to restore sight and prevent blindness in children and adults living in some of the world’s poorest countries. We’ll do this by donating £1 per pair, from every single pair of sunglasses in the Best under the sun collection sold during 2012.
£1 can make a big difference. £1 could help 20 people combat river blindness, and £1 could protect 2 people against trachoma, the eye disease which causes blindness. We’re hoping to raise a great amount of funds to save the sight of thousands of people during 2012. Plus, we’re supporting one of their celebrity ambassadors, Lorraine Kelly, by providing her with Polaroid sunglasses to keep her eyes protected from the sun.

We’re delighted that Alex Seroge Ignatian, the British fashion designer who Polaroid Eyewear sponsors, has been specially selected to take part in Alternative Fashion Week 2012. Seroge will showcase his new Spring/Summer collection at this exclusive fashion event, at Spitalfields Traders Market, close to Liverpool Street Station, on 16-20 April. Seroge’s models will be wearing Polaroid’s new 2012 Sunglass Collection, which complement his range perfectly.
Alternative Fashion Week is the event for innovative young designers to show their work to worldwide press and international buyers. The show is free to the public, so why not come along and join us to see the collections, or buy one or two items.
It’s a testament to Seroge’s innovative collection that he has been selected to take part, because the event has been overwhelmed with applications from fashion and textile designers this year. Seroge will also have a stall where he will be taking orders from hisnew Spring/Summer 2012 collection, and will be selling various items. You can also check out the new 2012 Polaroid sunglasses range.
“This is the second year I’ve been chosen to take part, and I’m so pleased to launch my Spring/Summer collection for 2012 at Alternative Fashion Week,” said Alex. Read more…
I recently gave a presentation for the General Optical Council to opticians about 3D glasses and technology. As part of my presentation I talked about the different methods of 3D [...]
